Crypto.com hosts Twitch Rivals for global crypto marketing
An esports tournament host, Twitch Rivals, which is currently featuring Twitch streamers and pro gamers, has reported to have been onboarded Crypto.com, the popular crypto trading platform.
The move is a partnership between Twitch Rivals and Crypto.com, where the trading site is the official global marketing and cryptocurrency platform partner. Crypto.com would act as the official partner in the Asia-Pacific region aimed at increasing the local crypto adoption within the esports landscape.
As per Kris Marszalek, CEO and co-founder of Crypto.com, there are currently more than 1 billion gamers worldwide where gaming and esports fans are “digital natives” for whom cryptocurrency is “inevitable.”
The partnership deal also entitles Crypto.com to have in-stream branded segments, category exclusivity, activations at Twitch events, media placement, and so on, starting with a two-day event at Las Vegas on November 4.
In addition, Twitch Rival would feature Crypto.com-branded advertisements on over 250 broadcasts globally. According to a spokesperson from Twitch, the partnership would work towards driving engagement for all its tech-savvy users.
Ubisoft, a leading game development company, has also recently shown interest in building more blockchain-centric games. Ubisoft CFO Frédérick Duguet has highlighted blockchain technology as having great potentials for the gaming industry.
Duguet was also noted as saying that blockchain would enable various play-to-earn that would lead more players “to earn content, own content” that would eventually fuel industry growth “quite a lot.”
Duguet also said that Ubisoft is presently working with small-scale blockchain firms in order to understand the technology’s impact on the gaming industry as they want to be “the key players” in this space.
Twitch had previously made an addition of a tipping feature back in December 2019, enabling its users to tip streamers with a US dollar-pegged stablecoin called MenaCash. As a part of the same deal, viewers can utilize the MenaPay mobile app for viewing Twitch streams to tip their favourite players in real-time.
Blockchain-based internet browser Brave also supports tipping in cryptocurrencies on streaming platforms such as YouTube, Twitch and Twitter.
