Ethereum founder donates 5 million dollars worth ETH in the Ukraine aid totaling 133 million dollars in crypto donations

Aid for Ukraine, the joint initiative of FTX, Kuna, Rally, and most importantly, the Ukrainian Government to collect crypto donations for the war-torn country, has announced that the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, has donated US 5 million dollars worth of ETH for Ukraine in the early April.

Although the donation sum is enormous, Buterin has not made any announcement about the transaction. The transaction was eventually linked with the Ethereum Name Service domain name ‘vitalik.eth’, which is the origin of the transfer, as well as Buterin’s own domain name. The half of the 5 million donations went directly to the Aid for Ukraine wallet, while the other half went to the Unchain Fund, which is a crypto coin charity initiative by the crypto community activists in order to assist in providing humanitarian relief for Ukrainian citizens.

The deputy minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has publicly thanked the contribution of Buterin through a tweet and thanked him for standing with his country. The amount of crypto donations received by the Ukrainian Government as well as charity and the military has surpassed US 133 million dollars. Unchain Fund alone has raised more than 10 million US dollars, and most of its contributors stem from ETH and NEAR tokens. But right now, the pace of donations has slowed down significantly.
