The Ripple community lawyer declared the case of the Securities and Exchange Commission a very big win after the presiding judge made the ruling in favour of Ripple. The Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Ripple and executives Brad Garlinghouse and Christian Larsen for selling unregistered securities in the year 2020.
The presiding judge Sarah Netburn refused the request of SEC to reconsider the protection of the documents which comes under the speech made by the 2018 director of SEC William Hinman. According to the speech of Hinman, Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) do not come under the securities in the United States.
Previously the SEC did not object to the document but DPP exempted some of the document to become open to the public. According to the judge Netburn the SEC should not contradict itself while trying to flip-flop on its assertions.
