Searches for NFT record high in Google
The keyword search data of Google has recently shown that the search for keywords like NFT, non-fungible tokens have now become more popularized than crypto-related searches such as Dogecoin, Bitcoin and Ethereum. This specific keyword called NFT has blown away many crypto assets related terms in terms of Google rankings. Furthermore, according to the data provided by Google Trends, NFT saw a substantial increase in interest at the beginning of the year 2021.
The bubble initially dried up around the end of June, only to rise up in July and break records and reach a new height at the end of October. The rise in the spike of the search term doubled over the last three months. The term ‘NFT’ has overtaken lots of other crypto-related terms such as: ‘blockchain’, ‘Ethereum’ and ‘DeFi’.
The additional information provided by Google Trends suggests that the term ‘NFT’ is clearly sweeping all over Asia. Mainly countries like Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Uganda, Singapore are in the top rankers among the search ranking of keywords.
The search for the term ‘NFT’ peaked in China from September 5 to 11 when two major developments happened in the country. Firstly the giant conglomerate of China Tencent introduced an NFT trading platform named Huanhe, and at the same time, Alibaba also launched a marketplace through which users can trade NFT licences to create digital content and copyright them. However, the Chinese Communist Party has denounced the NFT through a series of statements using the official state media publication platform.
