Swiss BSV Association to establish first blockchain academy in the Middle East

Switzerland’s BSV Blockchain Association has announced it is opening the first blockchain school in the Middle East region.

As per the announcement by BSC Blockchain Association, the first blockchain school would be established in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. The new institution would work on training and development tools for government enterprises that have shown interest in adopting or experimenting with the blockchain technology.

As per news sources, Saudi Blockchain Academy (SDA) would be coordinating with the Swiss-based Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain industry by educating experts on new technologies as a part of the implementation of Saudi Vision 2030.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has established SDA as a major national project for developing both human capital and digital skills for the future and preparing the Arabian youth for employment in the telecommunications and information technology sector.

The BSV association and SDA would collaborate through the new blockchain academy in Riyadh and provide learning and development resources for various audiences that include government enterprise executives and officials, developers, startup entrepreneurs, students, business executives and research scholars.

Blockchain technology has witnessed widespread potential in areas ranging from finance, healthcare, edtech and telecommunications, among various others. Many big tech companies that, including Google and IBM, have been actively involved in developing blockchain-based applications.

As per the Swiss organization’s announcement, the Riyadh blockchain school would deliver a special focus on the BSV blockchain as part of the growing number of sector-specific educational programs introduced by the SDA.

Eng. Faris AlSaqabi, Saudi’s Deputy Minister for Future Jobs & Capabilities at MCIT, has said that the initial academies that have been announced at the launch event in October 2021 are being “continually looked towards to add new fields of learning.”

Owing to the high interest in blockchain technology, the Saudi government is “proud to work with BSV’s team” in bringing “world-class blockchain training to Saudi Arabia” in a landmark initiative for the Middle East, AlSaqabi added.

Several nations across the Middle East have recently embraced blockchain technology and digital assets in what seems a more progressive perspective. Gradually, regulators have also been pushing for crypto-friendly laws in various countries in the MENA region.

Back in September 2021, the United Arab Emirate’s local authorities had unveiled a new regulatory framework to encourage crypto trading in Dubai’s economic free zone. The step has been acknowledged by analysts as potentially laying the groundwork for wider adoption and innovation throughout UAE.

The Emirates Postal Group (EPG) has also announced being the first postal organization in the Middle East and North Africa that has issued digital-collectible stamps.
